After years of posting on a Boston Celtics Message Board as SlipperySam, I have decided to start my own Boston Celtics Fan Site. At present, I plan to continue on the aforementioned message board, but this blog will be more personal. I hope to initiate a daily or near-daily thread about the Celtics, presenting information or viewpoints and encouraging others to respond. I'll be blogging only as "Sam," while the SlipperySam name will be limited to the message board.
My Celtics roots go back to 1950, when this 13-year-old kid hid a portable radio under the bedsheets and listened religiously to a "pre-Russellian" Bob Cousy laboring against George Mikan and other opponents of the day. The advent of Russell, of course, led to another 13-year period that was marked by euphoria. During some of those years, I had occasion to become very personally close to certain members of the team. Although The Russell Years will always hold a special place for me, I've never lost my passion for the Celtics through the years of the triple overtime, the Bird-Magic confrontations, and right up through the 2008 Rolling Rally and to this moment.
A blog will not replace a multi-thread message board. But it will provide an opportunity to focus on one issue at a time. I hope to accomplish several objectives—all from the perspective of an intense Celtics fan:
• Discuss Celtics games and other current Celtics-related events and developments as they occur
• Fill in less "news-active" periods with current and historical insights about the Celtic as gleaned through research and personal experience...and, hopefully, from you
• Engage in discussion with other posters in an atmosphere of civility and general Celtics allegiance
• Honor the Celtics Tradition at all times
Fans of other teams are welcome to participate as long as they recognize that (1) civility is the name of the game and (2) posts that persistently belabor promotion of other teams or demean the Celtics or gratuitously attempt to sow seeds of antagonism/baiting/disruption will have to be deleted.
I'm a total newcomer to blogging, so I'll appreciate any suggestions you may have. If you'd like to contact me less publicly, please feel free to do so at SlipSamCelts@col.com.
One thing about reading posts. It seems that the most recent posts appear at the top of the list. So, if you want to read chronologically, please start at the bottom.
So welcome to the blog. I hope you enjoy it. Let's see how it goes.
Best regards,
Sam

Sam,
I opened an account in Google. It looks like that is the step that allowed me to post without being "Anonymous".
Sam,
After I created a Google account, I linked the Google account to my Follower account. FYI, the "nickname" in the Google account becomes my identity here.
Im typing in a different looking Leave a comment box. I am getting closer to understanding things here.

Hi Sam and the rest.
I decided to use the ID 'Statster". Not sure why, just felt that using my real name probably wasn't the smartest thing to do in the first place, so why repeat a folly?
Anyway, I'm glad to be here and look forward to Sam's views as well as everyone else's.

Hopefully I've got this figured out.
Not real sure if I logged out or am in.
Time will tell.
Looks like it works!!
Nice to see all the "techies" here. I hope it'll get easier or I may have to change services. Wow...GYSO, Beat, Bob (I mean Statster). A veritable wave of posting legends.

I tried to delete one of my TEST posts and It worked to a degree. Now it shows that I deleted a post.
Sort of like walking in the mud. The track remains and you got a lot of mud on your boot.
If your reading this try to delete my other TEST post and see what happens from your end. Will it say you have removed it or anything? Obviously there is no content to it so give it a shot!

Beat, Zap Central reporting. You disappeared like purple and gold in the finals. It says the comment was removed by a "blog administrator." Oh yeah, this whole thing could be real fun.
First things first. Mend those ribs.

I'm writing under marcus's sign in cause I'm to lazy to sign out then sign back in as me.
As to the zapping, man you could have a blast with that. The guy whom posted prior to this post of mine (Mr, know it all) is a good candidate for the GONG as in the Gong Show from the 70's.
It's not like we grew up with these darn things. (computers) Cripes (A word not allowed on BDC) your average computer today is so much more powerful then the ones used by NASA to land us on the moon 40 years ago.
NBow we need to get a few more regulars on here.
Heading to the local HS football game with Marcus then Syracuse Football tomorrow.

Beat,
That's why I posted the URL on the board. He's making money for me, and I get the fun of zapping him. Like getting paid to watch mosquitoes doing the zapper shuffle.

Good to find you Sam. Hope all is well. I miss the "Game On" threads on the Globe.
I will be in Boston on Friday and Saturday to watch the Celtics (in person vs. Suns and from a sports bar Saturday). If there is a better place for Celtics fans to watch the game from, let me know!
I can't wait!!!!!!
